In 2013, Maison Martin Margiela presented the Crystalactite for Atelier Swarovski during Haute Couture week in Paris — a stalactite-shaped crystal pendant made using a groundbreaking fusion technique exclusive to Swarovski, in which crystal is bonded before cutting to create seamless, organically shaped forms. The result is a pendant that is simultaneously raw and precise, futuristic and entirely timeless. Signed Maison Margiela on the crystal.
It hangs from an unused 1980s triple gold-plated box chain — straight from the warehouse that supplied the great British department stores of the era. The iridescent aurora finish of the crystal shifts between ice blue, silver and pale gold with every movement. A landmark fashion and crystal collaboration on a piece of serious vintage chain. Both unused. One piece only.
Dead-stock vintage. An unworn item that has been stored for an extended period of time. Found in an untouched since the '80s warehouse that supplied the likes of Liberty, Harrods, and Selfridges.
