Vintage Japanese Shakudo Necklace — Scenic Damascene Panels 1950s

Product Details
A Japanese shakudo necklace strung with a series of scalloped-edge panels, each hand-finished in the traditional dark alloy and inlaid with fine gold detailing depicting miniature landscape scenes — huts, bridges, bare trees, and misty riverbanks. Delicate round links with floral motifs connect each panel along a fine chain.
Shakudo is a centuries-old Japanese metalworking technique using a copper alloy with a small amount of gold, treated to develop a deep blue-black patina. Originally used to decorate sword fittings for the samurai class, the technique became prized for jewelry and decorative objects, with artisans engraving miniature scenes into the dark surface and filling them with gold.
