Vintage Stratton Mother of Pearl Hand-Painted Goldfinch Pendant Necklace — 1980s

Two goldfinches, hand-painted with extraordinary precision on a luminous mother of pearl ground, set in a gold-plated rope-and-bead oval frame. Stratton was one of Britain's most celebrated accessory houses — known for the exceptional quality of their compacts and pendants throughout the mid-20th century. This pendant, cleaned and in excellent vintage condition, is the kind of miniature painting that reminds you what craftsmanship once looked like. It hangs from an unused 1980s three-layer gold-plated link chain — straight from the warehouse that supplied the great British department stores of the era.
